January 12-18, 1971 / Scandinavia trip: I had just returned to the Rome Center from the 16-day East Africa tour and there were still 6 days left before 2nd semester started. I was going to take a solo trip up to Amsterdam, Belgium, and Luxembourg, but hall mate Tom Nowak talked me into Scandinavia instead. Companionship usually trumped solo trips. So here is the famous mermaid guarding Copenhagen's Harbor. I expected the water to be frozen like Lake Michigan would be in Chicago in January, but it must've been balmier here than normal.

January 12-18, 1971 / Scandinavia trip: Copenhagen. At 1st I thought this was part of an amusement park, a rival to Tivoli Gardens, but now it looks more like train tracks. I can't imagine this being very safe in the winter with ice on the tracks.
