December 18-24, 1970 / Lucerne trip: Part of the famous Crenellated Wall that surrounds the older part of the city.

December 18-24, 1970 / Lucerne trip: A statue monument honoring Carl Spitteler zu Ehren, a Swiss poet awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1919. Is that what Carl looked like? Either he was one of the first “trannies” on record -- or maybe there was a strangely large amount of estrogen in the local water that drained down from the Alps. I'm sure there's a better explanation and I'll probably be embarrassed when I hear it. Such as: "He was a real woman's poet" or "He understood the female psyche better than any ..." You get the idea. :-)
