    October 9th-11th, 1970 /  Venice trip: A cozy courtyard on the island of Torcello where St. Thomas Aquinas was believed to have drunk red wine whenever he was “in town” eight-hundred-and-fifty years ago.

    October 9th-11th, 1970 / Venice trip: We were able to devour a six course meal—which included table wine—for a mere 1,000 lire apiece ($1.56). A lot of Italian restaurants on the tourist circuit used the prezzo fisso or "fixed price", also known as the menu turístico, to glean a sizable profit through high volume. BTW, "Friggitori" translates into "fryers." Glad my cholesterol count stayed away from that place.
