The Loyola University of Chicago Rome Center campus/1970: A 3rd sunset from the Villa roof.
1970-71 / Rome Center Campus: My single room on the 4th floor of the Villa. It was approximate 100 sq feet including a small closet. With a twin bed, sink and counter, fiberglass chair, and a Formica desktop factored in, there was pitifully little floor space. But who cared? I was at the legendary Rome Center -- in a private room, no less!
1970-71 / Rome Center Campus: The view out my window, which included the wonderfully woodsy backside of the campus and a multi-layered vista of Italian pines that grew out of both nearby and distant rolling hills. And behind it all stood the southern Appenine Mountains. This isn’t campus housing, I thought, it’s la dolce vita!
