Rome Center Weekend Trips: 1970/71 - James F Palka

A Saturday in late February, 1971 / Paestum: When the formal part of the tour was over, and before descending upon the nearby Paestum museum, we quietly broke for lunch. Most of us sat in small clusters on the open grassy plain between the temples and ate from familiar meal boxes supplied by the school cafeteria. Franca, playing the perfect hostess among the ruins, went from group to group, providing everyone with plastic cups and filling them with red wine. Yes, there was no question that field trips were a great way to study our ancient past. :-)
